What happened that ignited the student rebellion in Teheran, Iran in 1979?

It was something that was long over due. We and the British were meddling in the affairs of Iran and installed a puppet government many years ago. Unfortunately after several failed attempts by our military to get the Americans out of the country Carter was made out to be a failure, which he was not.
