What should i do? How do i set up a kiss with my best friend?

You see i like my best friend, im pretty sure he likes me back 2. he's a real charmer. Anyways bottom line is i either want to go out with him or kiss him. either one would work, but i just don't know how it would happen. how would i set it up? if we would go out i'd want him to ask me, how'd i get that to happen? i have the perfect scenario. im in a musical and we're preforming tonite. backstage i could probably manage to get him alone with me where it's dark and sorta romantic(its kinda a romantic play) where i could either ask him or kiss him but where could i take it from there? i want him to go 80 or 90% but ill go the rest. we flirt quite a bit a we'd sit backstage really close like leg to leg and shoulder to shoulder but you know, i just want a little more. Any advice? how would i set this up. I don't want to screw with our friendship either. HELP!! (by the way im not looking 4 make out or french kiss, just a quick peck or smooch) would cheek be better. what should i say to him. i don't really want to shock him and straight up tell him, i want to go into it smoothly and casual.
