GHD IV styler? Glamour Curls?

I got the GHD styler for Christmas, and I recently tried curling my hair. It curled, but not as curly as the women on the video. In November a women at Sephora Curled my hair with the same styler, but I can't remeber if she used GHD product. Does the styler work better with GHD products? Which ones?
