Where did the rumor that rock music is evil and anybody who listens to it worships the devil come from?

It originally came from the Puritans who coincided it a heathen act to perform any music when in Church. Later, when people started putting hymns to music, in country and Gospel music the moral minority (all older folk) decided if it wasn't one of those styles of music it was of the devil and so evil, problem is, ignorance breed more ignorance and hatred.
